Motorcycling Icon to Bring in the Roar for Erie Shriners Hospital for Children

ERIE – Academy Award nominee Peter Fonda will once again serve as grand marshal and lead rider for the “Bringin’ in the Roar” bike parade, the official kickoff for the second annual Roar on the Shoreä bike rally set for July 17-20 at Perry Square in the heart of downtown Erie.

Presque Isle Downs and Casino will host the “Bringin’ in the Roar” parade on Thursday, July 17 with riders starting to gather at 2 p.m. for live music, food and cold beverages. At 5 p.m. Fonda will lead the parade from the casino through the streets of Erie, ending at Perry Square. Cost is $5 per bike with all proceeds benefiting the Erie Shriners Hospital for Children.

Fonda is the star of more than 65 movies including the iconic 1969 classic “Easy Rider” in which he portrayed Captain America. The parade marks the third time Fonda will play the role of grand marshal for an Erie motorcycle rally.

“Peter Fonda is synonymous with motorcycling; and he is quickly becoming synonymous with Roar on the Shore™,” said Seth Tuttle, chairman of the Roar on the Shore™ Board of Directors. “Not only is Peter a huge draw, but his willingness to meet and bond with fellow riders greatly contributes to the success of the rally and, in turn, to the amount of money we can raise for charity.”

Roar on the Shore™ will also feature “Rock ‘n’ Roar,” a headline concert with classic rockers Blue Oyster Cult, Saturday July 19, at the Liberty Park Amphitheater on Erie’s Bayfront. The show will be opened by the Robertson FMX extreme motorcycle stunt team.

The Perry Square hub will feature great food and merchandise vendors as well as Rhett Rotten’s “Wall of Death” show, with free performances throughout the event. In addition, the Perry Square main stage will showcase musical acts like the Orange County Chopper Band, The Nighthawks, Felix and the Hurricanes, Rick Magee and the Roadhouse Rockers and Kellie Lynne among many more.
