Deadline for Posting OSHA No. 300A is February 1
The Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses, also known as OSHA No. 300A, is to be posted for all employees to review. The completed form must be posted in a conspicuous place or places where notices to employees are customarily posted. The summary for 2007 must be posted by February 1, 2008 and remain in place until April 30, 2008. Failure to post the annual summary could result in citations and penalties.
The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (“the Act”) requires that employers prepare and maintain a current file of employee injuries and illnesses. To meet the requirement, there are two forms that need to be completed: the OSHA No. 300 and OSHA No. 300A. The OSHA No. 300 is the Log of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses and the OSHA No. 300A is the Summary of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses. Each facility is responsible for maintaining these records for their facility. Only “recordable” injuries and/or illnesses are to be recorded.
A “recordable” injury is a fatality, injury or illness that is work-related, is a new case and meets one or more of the general recording criteria of Section 1904.7 or the application to specific cases of Section 1904.8 through Section 1904.11 of the Act.
