Computer TrainingYou offer so many computer classes. Where should I start? If you have limited-to-no experience using a personal computer, you should start with Introduction to Windows is recommended to all students regardless of their experience. Topics covered in that course are often overlooked by casual users and even some power users. From there, it is a matter of what you need to learn. Consult our course catalog for descriptions of one- and two-day courses for the most popular desktop-productivity applications. Finally, some of our courses list prerequisites. You should be confident in the topics listed in the course description for the prerequisite class before attempting the higher-level course. Is it necessary to take the prerequisites?Yes. To ensure a comfortable pace for the entire class, it is important that each person has the basic skills necessary. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis. I have a little bit of (Word/Excel) experience. Do I need the Level I class? You really should consider the Level I class, even if you have basic experience. We design all of our classes to demonstrate the fastest, most effective and efficient way to complete tasks from a business standpoint. We teach many shortcuts and tips that most self-taught users wouldn't learn. Most people with "some" experience find the classes extremely helpful, as they can appreciate how it will help them improve their efficiency. I need a specific class but it is not on your regular schedule. Can you offer it?In many cases, yes. Please call to inquire about courses not listed on the regular schedule. My employees need training, but I cannot send them off-site for classes. Can you come to my facility?Absolutely. As long as there is an adequate training venue available, we are happy to conduct the training at your location for four or more of your employees. We have some specific training needs but are so busy that we cannot spare someone for an eight-hour class. What are my options? We can offer our classes in half-day, evening and weekend formats just for people in your situation. You can also customize the class to any time frame that suits your needs. On-site training sounds good, but isn't it much more expensive? No. In most cases, the charges for on-site training are the same as our public offerings. In the past, we have sent our employees to training classes that turned out to be nothing more than lectures taught by trainers with little credibility. What makes you different? Our "hands-on" approach with experienced trainers keeps our trainees focused on learning new skills throughout the course. Our classes are limited to a maximum of 10 participants, giving the instructor adequate time with each trainee for specific questions. My company and our problems are unique. Can you customize your programs to address company-specific concerns?Yes. We understand that not all industries share the same problems. We will be happy to meet with you to discuss your particular situation. Will someone come to my workplace and work with me personally to show me the skills I need to know?Yes. Hourly, one-on-one training is available upon request. How can I determine my company's specific training needs? Our training and human resource professionals can meet with your management team to determine the types of programs best suited for your organization. We have many different types of surveys we can use to help you. Do I have to be a member of the Manufacturers' Association to participate in training classes? No. Many nonmember companies take advantage of our training; however, member companies enjoy a discounted rate. What if I have questions on what I learned in class after I return to work? You may call our office with questions on any material that was covered in class. This is a free benefit we provide to you indefinitely. For more information, contact Amy Pontillo at 814/833-3200 or 800/815-2660. |
